Israel fears breakup of Syria (U.S. News & World Report) Israeli Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Yair Golan, who previously headed the Northern Command, addressed a Tel Aviv University conference 1 June to mark 30 years since the Israel Defense Forces’ establishment of the security zone in southern Lebanon. Ukraine’s president warns of possible “full-scale” invasion (BBC) President Petro Poroshenko has told MPs the military must prepare to defend against a possible “full-scale invasion” from Russia, amid a surge of violence in eastern Ukraine.
