Fight Child Hunger in Ethiopia

During the summer of 2011, news of a severe drought in the Horn of Africa spread rapidly all over the world. Efforts were put in place to prevent a repeat of the 1984-85 famine that caused so many deaths.

Thanks to generous donors like you, CNEWA was able to answer the Ethiopian Catholic Diocese of Adigrat’s call and was able to:

  • Feed nearly 4,700 schoolchildren in 24 Catholic schools and ensure they complete the school year.
  • Build water reservoirs for six Catholic schools — reservoirs that now benefit almost 1,800 children and surrounding villages.

The drought isn’t over yet. It may not be in the news anymore, but northern Ethiopia is still dangerously short on water, and children in Catholic schools still depend on our food aid to stay healthy and stay in school.

Join the Diocese of Adigrat in its fight against child hunger.

The Holy Father calls Africa the “Continent of Hope,” and Christians are the bearers of hope to the suffering poor. Let us help our brothers and sisters in the churches of Ethiopia to fulfill this mission in Christ’s name.
